1.
Only You 04:29
You have known my every situation, and Your goodness sustains me, Lord. I will bow in humble expectation of Your presence in the storm. Yes, there will be trial and tribulation, and You’ll grant me breath to persevere. May my heart beat in pure anticipation of the day You’ll dry these tears. Only You have set the earth on its foundation. Only You give orders to the dawn. Only You can know the depths of every ocean. Only You deserve our song. Lord, You are the thunder to my whisper. Yes, Your greatness knows no bounds. All these things too wonderful to speak of fill my soul with a heavenly sound. Only You have torn the cover off the darkness. You expose the evils of the night. Only You reveal Your glory to the humble. Only You are clothed in light. Here I am in the valley of decision; I know You hear me when I call. I repent of my prideful disposition; where was I when the stars sang out?
2.
Be still, my soul: the Lord is on your side. Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain; leave to your God to order and provide; in every change, He will remain. Be still, my soul: your God will undertake to guide the future, as in ages past. Your hope, your mind, your will let nothing chain; all now mysterious shall be bright. Be still, my soul: the hour is hastening on when we shall be forever with the Lord, when disappointment, grief, and fear are gone, sorrow forgot, love's joys restored. Be still my soul (and praise Him).
3.
God of my life, to Thee I call; afflicted, at Thy feet I fall; when the great water-floods prevail, leave not my trembling heart to fail. Poor thou I am, despised, forgot, Yet God, my God, forgets me not; And He is safe, and must succeed, For whom the Lord is sure to to plead. Friend of the friendless and the faint, where should I lodge my deep complaint? where but with Thee, whose open door invites the helpless and the poor? That were a grief I could not bear, didst Thou not hear and answer prayer; but a prayer hearing, answering God supports me under every load.
4.
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation! O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation! All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near; join me in glad adoration. Praise to the Lord, Who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth, shelters thee under His wings, yea, so gently sustaineth! Hast thou not seen how thy desires e’er have been granted in what He ordaineth? Praise to the Lord, O let all that is in me adore Him! All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before Him! Let the amen sound from His people again; gladly forever adore Him.
5.
As we rise from our knees where soil and sky meet, peace. All those who receive every branch of this tree, peace. Lord come as the lion or come as the dove. Just let there be life, life from above. Every soul upon the restless sea, hold on. Every heart that yearns for what will be, hold on. Every creature groaning from the curse, peace. Every corner of this wild earth, peace. Lord come as the fire or come as the rain. O let there be life, life here again.
6.
Heavenly Father, You always amaze me. Let Your kingdom come in my world and in my life. Give me the food I need to live through today and forgive me as I forgive the people that wrong me. Lead me far from temptation. Deliver me from the evil one. I look out the window, the birds are composing; not a note is out of tune or out of place. I walk to the meadow and stare at the flowers-- better dressed than any girl on her wedding day. So why should I worry? Why do I freak out? God knows what I need. You know what I need. Your love is strong. The Kingdom of the Heavens is now advancing; invade my heart, invade this broken town. The Kingdom of the Heavens is buried treasure; would you sell yourself to buy the one you've found? Two things You told me: that You are strong and You love me. Yes, You love me. Your love is strong Our God in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name above all names. Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us today our daily bread; forgive us weary sinners. Keep us far from our vices and deliver us from these prisons.
7.
What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul! What wondrous love is this, O my soul! What wondrous love is this, that caused the Lord of bliss to bear the dreadful curse for my soul, for my soul, to bear the dreadful curse for my soul. When I was sinking down, sinking down, sinking down, when I was sinking down, O my soul! When I was sinking down beneath God's righteous frown, Christ laid aside His crown for my soul, for my soul, Christ laid aside His crown for my soul. To God and to the Lamb, I will sing, I will sing; to God and to the Lamb, I will sing. To God and to the Lamb who is the great "I AM," while millions join the theme, I will sing, I will sing, while millions join the theme, I will sing. And when from death I'm free, I'll sing on, I'll sing on, and when from death I'm free, I'll sing on; and when from death I'm free, I'll sing and joyful be, and through eternity I'll sing on, I'll sing on, and through eternity I'll sing on!

Whoever is wise, consider the love of the Lord, the great love of the Lord. Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee. Take my moments and my days; let them flow with endless praise. Take my voice and let me sing always, only, for my King. Take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee.

about

Psalm 107 inspired me to capture these songs in this way. It ends with the adage, "Whoever is wise, let him attend to these things and consider the steadfast love of the Lord." The rest of the Psalm chronicles such amazing acts of love.

This first album contains some re-arrangements of my favorite worship songs and original arrangements of some powerful hymns. If you recognize some of the cover songs from other artists, I'm so glad! They are amazing artists continually creating quality music. The title track, "Whoever Is Wise" is an original adapted from Psalm 107 ending with a chilled-out version of "Take My Life and Let It Be."

Another facet of these songs was driven by the fact that music can be devotional. It hit me that combining music with the Bible is a way to activate multiple senses in devoting time to God. Similar to how the sacraments portray the gospel through multiple senses. Part of the vision for these songs was that they could be listened to as a devotional. I recommend listening to the whole album straight through, reading the listed Scripture passages before each song.
